Five Easy steps to Getting Started on your website:

To get started you need to follow some simple steps.

1. Download the webdesign questionaire and e-mail it back to me when you have filled it out. Alternately you can e-mail me and we can set up a telephone interview where we can collect all the information. The more content you write for your website, the cheaper it will be for you! Check out Rates.
2. Come up with fifty words/phrases or more that are specific to your work. These so-called "meta-tags" will be behind the scenes of your website and will allow search engines like Google or Yahoo to find your site. For example, for an acupuncturist you might come up with words such as "acupuncture,massage,qi,alternative health-care,medicine,back pain,neck pain..." and so on. You get the idea. Leave no spaces between the words. Make sure you add words that describe your geographic location (i.e. your town, county, state and nearby towns that people might contact you from).
3. Email me your picture and any pictures you may want to have on your site. If you have a logo send that along too. If you don't have a logo, don't worry, we will make you a nice site that you can use later to make yourself some cards, stationary etc. from. All pictures should be sent as .jpg, .jpeg or .gif files.
4. Unless you already have a domain name, you will have to get one. You will also have to buy a hosting package that will host your site on the world wide web. DO NOT get a domain name until we have discussed it, as it is important to get a domain name that will rank your site highly. You can get both a free domain name and a hosting package for under $10 a month with the company I currently recommend, which is www.startlogic.com. They also provide a $10 credit for anyone you refer to them, so ostensibly you could get free hosting! Like I said though, before you sign up, let us discuss it so you know how it all works! Once you have bought your hosting package, we can upload your files and your site will be on the web!
5. Once your site is polished and you are happy with it, we will submit it to different search engines and directories so that your website will be found. After that, it usually takes about six to eight weeks for search engines like google to know that you are there.
