About Webdesigns by Acusailor
From acupuncturist to webdesigner...
We all must follow our dreams one day to live our life without regrets. For this reason alone, I decided
one day that a successful career as an acupuncturist would have to take some detours...
Not that I
minded being an acupuncturist - on the contrary, I loved it! But, passions have a way of their own, and if you
haven't noticed, the second part of my web design company's name is "sailor"! Since I was a child I had the desire
to live a life of adventure on a boat.
When I was almost forty I asked myself at what point in life would I begin to actualize
my dream? A dream that remains a dream is just that. And so I thought it was time, and luckily for me, my wonderful husband thought it
a great idea. While there were just as many arguments
against the crazy notion of selling our home and business, and trading a comfortable livelihood for life on a thirty seven foot boat, once
the decision was made, the idea took on a life of its own. There was no going back!
What, you may ask, does all this have to do with a web design business? Two things. The first being that my other passion in life is to
be creative. Sticking pins in people all day is fullfilling (believe it or not!) but it lacks any artistic flair. A little "je ne sais quoi"
was definitely missing from my life for many years. The second reason: the notion that perhaps, just maybe, learning the skills of a webdesigner
would help us finance our way around the world on our little boat. I could make websites for people who ran businesses just as I had as an acupuncturist, I
thought. Fine. So I began taking online classes (what a great invention!) in between boat shopping, selling house and business, and going to
"living on a boat university". And, to my delight, I found great pleasure in it all! I love to take photographs, and I found a way to incorporate this hobby
into my newly aquired skills.
I also love to meet people and I love to write. So the first thing I did, after a few practice websites, was create one for our
journey. If you are interested, you can check it out and read your heart content about our many misadventures thus far. Just visit www.acusailor.net
and have at it. Since then I have made websites for people I have met along the way. You can check them out under my portfolio. So far,
it has been great fun, and I would love to make you a website if you like what I do! There are only a few little downsides to working with a sailor in this way. The main one is that
we are not always in a place where we can be reached via phone, nor are we always in a place where I can upload your files or receive your emails. BUT, when I am on the boat, I do
have my laptop and my muse, and I can easily whip you up a lovely, original site and next time I get a chance to get online, upload it for you!!!
So, if you aren't in a huge mad rush when we happen to be sailing from one place to another, consider this ... you might end up with a website you love to call your own, created in
some beautiful anchorage on a tiny boat we now call our home!
I look forward to working with you and bringing out the best of your talents and what you have to offer the
world by capturing who you are! If you are an acupuncturist or have anything to do with boats, even better! In that case I can bring all my own expertise into your site and make it
really spiffy. If you aren't, you will just have to help me a bit to learn about your field, whatever it may be!
